Terms
of Sale
|
|
The
following pre-owned steam engines
are being offered for sale in order
to clear shelf space for future acquisitions.
Most of these pieces were purchased
as part of a single estate collection,
comprised of over 150 engines, motors
and assorted accessories. While
I'm relatively knowledgeable where Handmade
steam engines are concerned, I do not
claim to be an expert on toy steam engines.
I've tried to give fair and accurate
descriptions of each piece, bumps warts
and all, but I am human. Any omission
of factual information are, I can
assure you, purely unintentional.
The
sheer number of available engines prevents
me from pre-testing each one. These
engines are offered in As-Is and untested
condition so you are encouraged to
ask questions before deciding to acquire
one. I'm also not offended by those
who feel the desire to negotiate,
as long as no one gets offended
should we be unable to come to
a mutually agreeable deal. I'll still
buy you a cup of coffee, should
we meet up at some later date.
Remember, this is supposed to remain fun
for both of us.
All
pricing is in U.S. Dollars and only
actual packaging, insurance (required)
and shipping costs will be added. Shipping
costs can be quoted prior to finalizing
an order. I typically use UPS for both
professional packaging services and
shipping in order to make things easier,
should an insurance claim be required.
Please let me know if other shipping
arrangements are preferred. Double boxing
with heavy padding is my normal
procedure so that you can be assured that
your engine arrives in the same condition
in which it was shipped.
Keep
in mind that each offering is subject
to prior sale or withdrawal for any
reason. Should an item become unavailable
due to such an event, you will not be
charged for any unfilled order
and you will be notified, when possible, of
any such situation. A valid Email response
address will make things easier for
both of us.
I
can be contacted at steam@cedesign.net
if
you have questions on any of these engines.

This
is a Doll et Cie, steam
engine, dating form the late 1800's
or very early 1900's.
It is a heavily constructed
piece with a cast iron base
and a cast brass cylinder.
The crosshead guide is a
"box bed" design
and the connecting rod is
machined with dual tapers
and decorative center cut.
The super cool "S"
curved spokes of the cast
5 spoke flywheel add a
graceful touch to this unusal
little Doll et Cie engine.
Plenty of nice brass
to be seen on this one.
Bumps
and Bruises: The spirit burner
has surface rust and is
missing two of its wicks.
The cork stopper is old
and fragile. The engine
appears to have been restored
and repianted at some point,
but is well done and all
surfaces are in good shape.
A good cleaning polishing
will make it a showpiece Price..........................$300.00

Bing
steam engines are among
the group of manufacturers
that have become known as
the "Nuremberg Group".
Bing competed successfully
with Doll and Marlin and
produced very well
made steam engines with
strikingly elegant lines.
This engine has had some
preservation work done and
could still use a bit of
love and care to bring it
back to it's full original
glory. It is complete with
no major dents or dings
being present, however,
the little engine is certainly
begging for new coat of
paint.
Bumps
and Bruises: Paint
is not original on base
and the flywheel. One small
bend in the fire box side
panel which will straighten
easily during any good restoration
effort. Price..........................$150.00

I
almost relegated
this engine
to the parts
bin, thinking
it was not totally
original Weeden
in its construction.
It turned out
to be a rare
Weeden version
of their well
known model
14. The engine
is in execllent
condition with
only one small
dent in the
boiler. It is
alcohol heated,
but the burner
is absent. All
other parts
and pieces including
the sight glass
are present.
This engine
does not appear
to have been
restored. This
rare and unusual
Weeden engine
will make an
excellent addition
to any toy engine
collection.
Bumps
and Bruises: Missing
is the alcohol burner. There
is also a small
dent beneath
the throttle
valve which
does not effect
operation. A bit
of gentle polishing
and this engine
will make an
exceptional

The
Marklin engines have become
increasingly popular among
serious toy steam engine
collectors. The elegant
lines and superior craftsmanship
of Marklin steam engines
is unsurpassed, making it
a premier member of the
German builders known as
the Nuremberg Group. This
one is a 1923 model #5 which
has been enjoyed by its
former owners who obviously
enjoyed running it. The
finish shows wear typical
of frequent play, so you
are buying an engine that
has been cherished as being
special by someone in its past.
The engine is in overall
very good condition except
as noted below.
Bumps
and Bruises: The
spirit burner has become
separated from this engine
since I purchased it. This
will be included with the
engine if and when I
am able to locate it. The
engine exhibits normal wear
for an 80 plus year old
engine with somewhat worn
and scorched paint. No boiler
dents are noted and the
boiler could use cleaning, but
all other components are
present. Price..........................$300.00

The
Jensen model 45 was produced
around the time of the Korean
war. Due to brass becoming
a War essential material,
Mr. Jensen was forced to
make some of these engines
with steel boilers. These
engines have become increasingly
scarce as time has taken
its toll on them. Today
a good steel boiler version
is hard to find. This model
45 is just such a find.
The boiler is still intact
with no pin holes and the
heater still meters as being
in good shape. If you are
looking to add to your Jensen
collection, you might want
to consider adding a model
45 which is sure to become
even more rare as time passes.
This
engine is ready to run,
although it is recommended
that you assure the boiler
vessel is completely dry
before storage.
Bumps
and Bruises: Some
slight discoloration but
no rust along the transition
break from the heater chamber
to the boiler vessel. Some
very minor paint chipping
on the red flange beneath
the heater chamber. Price..........................$150.00
